ParticipantHi folks,
The problem I have with this washer is that it seems to be using cold water to do everything and it’s not hot even during the drying cycle. I can’t seem to find spare parts on here and I’m not sure whether this is likely to be the element or the thermostst.
Any help would be appreciated
PS: I know it’s old but it was working otherwise and I hate dumping stuff that can be repaired.
Many thanks

This an old electro-mechanical slimline machine. It employs static heat (ie. timer stops until temperature is achieved, themostat closing re-starts the timer). If it completes the cycle cold, logically, the thermostat has jammed in the closed position and is allowing the timer to run through the heat positions without heating.
This a complete and total cow of a job. The thermostat is only supplied as part of the heater assembly and fitting involves taking the entire cavity off the base unit.
If you’re feeling brave, the heater unit is p/no 094499, about £92. spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one if you wish to attempt the repair. Not sure that I’d recommend it.

I’m not sure whether to thank you or cry so I’II do both. Thanks for your help and prompt reply – now I’II go and cry 🙂
It’s not whether I’m brave enough because I have enough technical know-how and plenty of patience but whether it’s actually worth it. £92 would go a long way to buying a new machine (albeit maybe not a great brand).
Thanks for your help and thanks for a great forum.

Hi Again,
I decided to do the old rough treatment (it’s an old machine) and give it a few bumps and guess what the flipping things working again. Just hope it aint stuck open this time or I’II be eating off melted plates….lol
I did actually check the fine mesh filter which was a bit blocked so i don’t know if maybe this could have caused the same problem???
Anyway thanks for your help.
