I think this topic may have been covered before, but I can find no record of it. My business is basically repairs, but I do sell a few Washing Machines, usually Bosch and Amica. What happens to me if the company that covers the guarantee goes bust? Am I , as the retailer then responsible for covering the guarantee? How likely is this to happen?

If the warranty is uninsured then yes, you are responsible for the warranty in short.

The best bit is that, if it can’t be repaired for lack of spares then you’re liable to offer a replacement FOC as well although you can mitigate some of that against the time that the person has owned it.

Basically the customer’s contract is with you as the retailer and you are ultimately responsible for any breach of that contract.

Many Thanks kwatt for that reply. It is a frightening thought in this economic climate, when even banks go bust. Iwonder if one could insure against this possibility. Anyone else have any thoughts on this?
