Im no refrigeration expert by far, iv changed a few boards in years gone past off hoover Fridge Freezers symptoms are no cooling at all, no activation of compressor all, just a click that seems to suggest board is trying to start the system? pot is not warm, pipes either side not cold, thermostat/setting dial is turned on and high setting selected.

am i correct in assuming the board is ok with this model, and fault lies withing motor or refrigerant?

    thanks simonb

If it was lack of refidgerant pot would be hot but condenser would be barely warm when it should be quite hot to the touch at the topIf it was a relay/starter fault you can usually hear the pot try to start and then the overload trips out.It can take 10 minutes or so for these to re set and try to start again,if left constantly trying to start the pot would again be hot.
If cover is removed from relay/start device you can easily with meter establish supply to the pot.
Is there a start capacitor sitting near the motor!,doubt it but can’t remember on this one.
Also to check windings on pot remove start device and quite simply take the resistance reading between the three pins so you have three figures two of which when added should equal the third,if they don’t either the start or run winding has failed.
Could also remove the supply cable from the pcb/thermostat at the pot and replace with the live supply giving a constant supply direct to the compressor, this will establish that the compressor runs,if it clicks out could be starter or winding failure it will also establish that the charge is OK if it ice’s up evenly on all of the the evaporator.
