Hi, my 2 yr old freezer (auto defrost) has stopped freezing completely. It sounds as normal, and if I turn on the fast freeze that also sounds as if its coming on but it isn’t freezing (or chilling!). Have had to throw away contents, now leaving it off with door open to see if its a frozen drain channel type problem as suggested elsewhere on these forums. As the unit makes the normal noise, I’m guessing it could be the thermostat. . It has now been switched off for some 12 hours so perhaps I should leave for longer.Any suggestions/ideas welcomed

Guess what… I have exactly the same issue….. ours is about 18 months old.

This week I put some bread into the freezer. Normally we use the one in the kitchen. Anyway after about 2 days I went to get the bread out and noticed that it felt ‘not quite frozen’. Whilst the meat that was in the freezer felt solid some iced lollies were not fully frozen. I have since put a thermostat in the freezer and basically the temperature is floating between -9 and -10.5 which is clearly not cold enough.

Over the past couple of months we have had a few issues with upset stomach’s which we put down to the various bugs going around. Now we wonder whether the issue may be down to the freezer.

I am going to speak with Trading Standards tomorrow about this. There was a program on TV last week which stated that manufacturers maybe responsible for items outside of their 12 month period. I do not think 18 months for a freezer is acceptable. Our last freezer lasted 12 years and we were given it from a relative who used it for 4 years +

Given the similar issue raised by lyntwn this looks a little suspicious… I know from reading the many posts Beko are not going to be easy to work with. But then again what have I to lose!

    Re: Beko freezer TZDA524 warming

    In Leicestershire, UK

The freezer is kept in our garage. The temperature in the garage is quite stable as it is attached to the main house and houses the gas boiler. The garage never gets too cold. nor does it get too warm.

I’m not too sure what is the optimal room temperature for the appliance… the garage I would guess hovers around 12 to 15.

Te quick freeze override works a treat and the freezer quickly hits -18 so I know the compressor is working. I would assume that the issue lies with the thermostat?

    thanks all for your comments.

have left it off now for 48 hrs but still not working! i assume that the compressor is likely to be ok as it makes its usual noise, including louder noise when fast freeze is turned on. Just no chill at all!! looks like a job for the experts, unless any more ideas coming up!!
