    Hi Everyone.

The electronic programmer on our Smeg SUK62mfx oven has stopped working today. We have tried turning the oven on an off but it remains like a black screen (no flashing 0.00).

It is a black screen with no light or activity whatsoever. The rest of the oven seems to work fine.

Any advice on what may be wrong and how to fix/replace any damaged parts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks a lot!

    Two possibilities.

1/ Wiring burnt out into the timer unit. It happens, but isn’t common.
2/ Timer has failed internally. Some sort of board level component failure is entirely possible. Burnt out joints on the timer pcb or power supply failure also possible.

As a repairer, beyond checking for obvious burnt out solder joints, I’d be replacing the timer. If you wish to get into board level repairs, we can’t help you.

Be interested in what you find though…… 😀

    Hi Penguin

    Thanks for the reply.

The oven was last used two days before we turned it on to find the timer wasn’t working. We had only used the hob on that occasion so not sure why that would have melted anything.

My girlfriend did clean the front glass with Cilit Bang the day before we turned it on so maybe that could have damaged something?

Anyways, do you know whether i can only fit a smeg part or can i use a non proprietary part?

Thanks a lot for all your help.
