ParticipantWent to place an order for Connect yesterday and my order was declined as “over account limit.” When I checked my limit, it had been reduced to £1500. 😯
My limit has been £2000 since 2005; I regularly would exceed that and have repeatedly requested a raised limit. I had never received a follow up on that request; so I buy all the rest from Qualtex.
I rang Connect today to ask why my limit has been lowered and was told that the managing director has instructed that all accounts are to be downsized to what they consider is your average monthly spend and a new credit check is required involving re – registration to re – instate your original limit. (BTW, your payment history is no longer accepted as your credit status – well that’s my mortgage conditions derailed then…..)
I make regular payments; no defaults; they have a long payment history on file for me. I have no problem with a periodic credit check: that’s fine – but at least tell me that my account has been altered without notice or consultation. I understand that in these days of financial turmoil they have to be careful, but tell us!! That, coupled with changing log – in details every three months; what is going on? I’m not asking for the keys to Fort Knox after all.
Anyone else been “capped”? 😯Not happy……and considering changing…… 😈

What a sad sign of the times we are now entering when long standing, regular customers are treated in this way. That whilst they are so very desperate for your regular custom and can little afford to lose you they treat you with such contempt and disdain. Having to go ‘cap in hand’ and ask for more credit so that you can feed them more business, more profit is outrageous to put it mildly.

Yeah! What’s that all about? And of course not to mention the no more monthly paper statements, pay us on line please, we’re going green?

I Think this problem with credit limits is out of connects hands. No doubt connect themselves have had there credit limits cut.So they have had to do the same as its all insurence backed. So a perfect example of the meaning of credit crunch. This is one reason why so many big businesses up and down the country are going bump. There is just not the flow of Money (credit) there needs to be to run the company efficently. What is bad is connect dont even have the decency to tell you your limits been lowered.I think its time you had a rant at them. 😡

Yes, I noticed this about 3 weeks ago, they dropped our limit by nearly a grand, with no warning at all.

Ours still the same but we do work for Repaircare so most of it goes on that, dont think they will change anyone who works for repaircare as they will always get their money every month 😉
