    Hi

I have a Hotpoint FFA52 Fridge Freezer and have problems with ice forming inside. The freezer is a supposed to be frost free but over a couple of months period ice starts to form inside and blocks the hole which allows the water to escape out. To fix this engineers have had to dismantle the inside and then remove all the ice. I have had two new freezers and numerous engineers from Hotpoint who dont have a clue why this is happening. If anyone can shed some light on the problem that would be great.

Personally I think there is a problem with the water outlet ie,the rubber/plastic non return type valve that is the final part of the water outlet blocks with ice which then backs up and ends up blocking the whole evaporator.
Earlier frost frees, especially the ocean and commercial upright freezers have a section of the defrost heater (commonly refered to as drain line heater)going into the drain tube so it gets heated as well as the evaporator, those made in the last 10 years or so dont and are far more prone to blockages.
A modification should be the solution but doubt that will be forthcoming,I usually open up the drain hole slightly so that a bit of heat rising from the motor helps to ward off this pain in the nether region!
