What does the Potentiometer do? Is it the big knob that selects the programs and could this be why some programs don’t work??

Well the machine only reaches an end of program on one or two programs. On the others it seems that it never reaches the end and can stop at any time. Often on the spin cycle or sometimes the cloths are still wet. The program control dial just clicks round sometimes and back to where it was. One program is fine the others a bit hit and miss. I just ordered a bearing and seal kit from UKWG!

It’ll be the timer at fault. These machines use a motorised selector switch or “timer” to tell the computer what to do. Random running round and failure to complete are classic problems. P/no 91201337, spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one promptly.
The potentiometer is behind the smaller knobs and is used to select variable temperature or spin speed. I doubt that the bearing and seal kit will help you with this particular problem.

The bearing and seal kit was one you helped me with a few weeks ago. (Thanks for the info). I have just got round to ordering them. So when I told the wife I had ordered the bearings at last she said it was doing other strange things. So the bearings are being changed due to the excessive noise. They need doing. The anoying thing is that I could have orderd both. But if I do the seals and still have a machine after that I can change the timer. Should be a straight swop out?

random running around i agree is a timer fault stopping before the end of the program could just be a blocked filter.

Where is the filter and where is the timer? Can you re send the link to the timer? My wife it seems has deleted all my emails today bar 1 (UKW invoice for the bearings). Is there any drawings of the machine? I have started getting the drum out and have the spider off the back. Now I have a bearing puller where you take the cheek off the bearing, mangle out 1 ball and insert the bearing puller between races, is there and chance of extracting the bearings with the drum still in? I’m going back to it any help will help!!Re: Hoover AL130
Yes, it gripped but the drum went in not bearing out so I stopped. Three questions
1. Should I remove the top weight?
2. Remove motor?
3. Door seal comes out with drum or leave it on machine.
Apart from that there are loads of hoses and wires all over the place now, it seems to be alive, I’m sure I can hear it breathing!!Re: Hoover AL130
All right, just stop and think for a moment, please.
You have not removed the spider, you’ve removed the drum pulley. If you are going to replace the drum bearings, the tank assembly must be removed from the machine. So – clear everything from around the top of the cabinet. Disconnect all wiring, hoses, door seal, valves, pcbs, timer, soap dispenser and remove from the cabinet. Then release the shock absorbers under the drum. Lay the machine on its side and slide the drum out. Then you can split it and do the bearings and seal properly.
Make drawings, take pictures of where everything goes, because we won’t tell you how to put it all back together again.
