    I really must stop buying houses with 12 year old built-in appliances.

    Above washer/dryer has decided to join my list of suicidal white goods.
    Symptoms are:
    1. When the rotary programmer reaches a stop mark, it doesn’t stop. It continues (moving at some speed) and then eventually stops somewhere in the middle of the next program.
    2. It won’t unlock the door, even if I turn off the machine at the mains.

    Anyone reckon this one is worth fixing, and is there any way I can get my shirts back?

    Just come across this post – may be of help ……
    Same symtoms but traced to tacho unscrewed itself in the motor ..
