ParticipantHi,
I have a 2 year old Zanussi Washer Dryer and all has been perfect until this morning when I saw a pool of water appearing at the bottom of the machine.
Basically, the door is leaking from the beginning of the wash cycle where the water is injected into the drum from a hole/tube at the top of the door seal. This water is then hitting off the clothes in the machine and leaking straight out the bottom of the door.
The seal itself looks perfect, not dirty in any way, seems to be in good shape. The door closes fine as well and as normal. Can’t see anything out of the ordinary.
A couple of questions for the experts :
– Is it possible that the seal could have been forced out of shape during a previous wash, by a piece of clothing wedged against it somehow ? If so, I presume that the remedy is a new seal ?
– Are the doors adjustable in any way to tighten the seal that they form against the rubber sealAny other ideas about how a relatively new seal that looks perfect could suddenly be leaking ?
I’m going to go looking at it again now to see if I can spot any obvious reason how it could leak.
From reading other posts I don’t like the sound of trying to replace the seal – how much would supply and fitting of this normally set you back ?
Any help appreciated.

Look closer. Water will leak out of the soap drawer, run round the door indent and appear to dribble out of the bottom of the door seal. A thorough clean of the drawer and its box will usually sort it.

I looked closer this morning and the problem seems to have rectified itself.
Basically I put it down to the following :
– the other half had a load of clothes in the machine all night. There was probably something caught slightly in the door
– in the morning this had caused the seal to be malformed a little, therefore leaving a gap big enough to allow some of the water out.
– once I made sure that there was nothing caught in the door, and then left the machine with the door shut tightly all day, this obviously formed the rubber seal back into its proper positionSigh of relief for me given that the machine is so new. I have had an old Indesit running for 15 years now without any issue or replacement part – I thought that the Zanussi should be delivering a similar performance!
One final question – for machines that are so old (15 years), should they actually be serviced to ensure that a major leak isn’t around the corner ?
Or is the best advice to wait until something fails ? -
