ParticipantHi all.
We have a possibility of moving soon (have yet to even make an offer), but we are looking ahead.
Anyway, we have a few things to look at. 1 of which might be cookers, but I will leave them alone for now.
What I would like advice on is Fridge Freezers and Washers/Dryers.
Fridge Freezers first then.
What would you recommend? I am looking for something:
- • Frost Free (Freezer only is acceptable)
• A/A+ rated
• Has a reasonable capacity- ~3 cu ft freezer (3/4 drawers &/or something in the door)
~6 cu ft fridge• Salad Crispers/Low Temp Chiller/Fast Freeze would be a bonus but are not essential
• Anti Bacterial again would be a bonus
• I am not interested in any form of ice dispenser in the front.[/list:u:qaaxu8bs]I have no preference on stacked or side by side, but am looking at anything under £500, and preferably under £350.
So far I have found a monster of a HOTPOINT FF7190EX, weighing in at ~£500 and could possibly be TOO big. The Proline PLC55FFS, at ~£300, the INDESIT BAN12NF at ~£300, the PRESTIGE PRT265FFSL at ~£350.
Of those, my initial choice is between the HOTPOINT FF7190EX or the PROLINE PLC55FFS.
Onto the washer/drierWe can probably manage without a tumble drier, but if we did have to have one it would either need to be incorporated into the washer OR stackable.
I am very intrigued by the ISE 10 range. I have also heard good things about Miele washing machines.
Apart from ISE/Miele Washers, what would you suggest as a good quality washing machine? What about tumble driers?
And does anyone have any views on combined washer driers? Last I heard (years ago) they ate washing for breakfast, but things may have changed. And if so, what you recommend?

Hi carrot
I would recommend you take a read of our buying guide to Fridge freezers to start with. When it comes down to brands, frost free and budget I would recommend you go with either Bosch, Liebherr and Miele. The budget machines like Proline and Prestige will not give longevity of life I`m afraid. The Hotpoint frost free are average in my opinion.
When it comes to washer dryers don`t get one unless you really really have to 😉 , seperates are by far the better option even if it means having a small compact dryer. Another good article to read is here on washer dryers.
The ISE machines are a totally different concept to any thing else currently on the market. The machines are well constructed, easy to use and stand equal to Miele. The main difference is when it comes down to service Miele control their own service and do not freely give out technical advice to the independant sector , also Miele parts are overpriced compared to other brands. With ISE all service is carried out by your local service engineer which in most cases will be the same one who supplied and installed the machine in the first place, couple that with far cheaper spare parts should they be needed. Oh and the ten year guarantee is underwritten by AXA insurance for your protection in these troubled times. The matching ISE 10 tumble dryer compliments the washer perfectly, you can have a choice of either vented or condenser.
Links for the 3 machines
ISE10 1600 spin AAA rated with a full 10-year warranty available here
ISE 10 Condenser tumble dryer 6KG load C rated with a full ten-year warranty
ISE DV60W Vented dryer with a ten-year warranty

ParticipantThank you for your response.
Re the fridge freezers, I may have to downscale from what I originally looked at. Only the Liebherr is coming anywhere near to what my wife deems acceptable (price wise). Unfortunately I cannot persuade her otherwise.
If you had to suggest any other brands apart from Bosch, Miele or Liebherr – even if reluctantly – Who would you suggest?

Hi
In alphabetical order 😉 Hotpoint, Whirlpool and Zanussi would be on my shopping list.

Most Miele refrigeration products are in fact made by Liebherr.
