ParticipantEverything is held up in my new kitchen because I haven’t chosen a hob ( and oven). I have to buy one urgently before everything grinds to a halt, so I need HELP!
I had chosen the AEG 68002KFN induction hob when what I think is an experienced kitchen supplier told me that AEG are good for ovens but useless at induction hobs, and he recommended Bosch. I had looked at Bosch PIE640E01E and Neff T4243Xo, but AEG was the only one with a bevelled edge (as opposed to a straight frameless edge, which looked as though it might get chipped easily).
Can you tell me if he is right? Should I avoid AEG induction hobs? If there is a difference, which is the best? I want a reliable hob that will last. (Also, help in choosing a single oven would be much appreciated). Thanks in anticipation.

As far as induction hobs go they are really a niche market, they require specific pots and pans, expensive to buy and even more so when they go wrong! Care is needed to fit them following the manufacturers guidelines.
Having said that, most of the repairers on here will have little experience of them (because of their rarity) so reliability is something you will need to research carefully from many sources but generally speaking if you stick to a well-known big brand name you won’t go far wrong…at least you will have the assurance of guarantees and service back-up if it goes pear-shaped 😉April 4, 2009 at 2:06 pm #282121kiddo66

After changing 2 Hotpoint induction hobs for a customer after repeated failure, she was supplied with a Bosch and has had no problems with it after 2 years service. She has however managed to chip the corner off it!!
I fully agree with Clive, stick with a known brand and at least you will get the service back up should it go wrong.April 4, 2009 at 6:11 pm #282122Jazzmeister

Have repaired numerous dedetrich induction hobs under warranty and extended cover. They seem quite good but you MUST make sure they have room beneath them for air to circulate.Failure to do this can cause boards to blow due to overheating!
