ParticipantThis machine has a transformer in the module, does that mean it’s Haier? If so, I’ll tell her to get a new one.
She says it was supplied new a couple of years ago by a kitchen company and nothing had been done to it since new.
It had been blowing trip. I went along and found drain pump fixing reinforced with cable ties (fair enough), heater had been changed and old squeeze clips re-used (leading to hose falling off, leading to flooded base etc) and there was a discarded junior hacksaw inside the side panel!
The drain pump was working OK and m/c not tripping having dried out. I ordered new hose clamp and returned today.
I fitted new hose clamp and put on for a test. That was when I got the problem in the title. Door switch fine. Not checked door wiring as completely enclosed in thick rubber tube and don’t want to mess with that yet. Tried operating flood prev switch but no joy. Module visually OK.
Any pointers please?

It’s a Chinese one, Mike.

So these Chinamen import Italian bits and pieces, add a cheap electronic board, made locally, and re-export them here? Or do they assemble them here when the takeaway’s closed?

Nope. Indesit sold them the entire old production line. They’re a shoddy copy of a machine which wasn’t very good to start with.
Lots of drain pumps held on with tyraps:

Just shockingly poor.

a low insulation reading normally causes the pcb to lock out on these

Chris, thanks for the clarification. I’m now equipped to better inform the customer.

Ah, so it will unlock if the insulation problem can be sorted? Wonder if I should give it a last chance.

Hi,
I’ve just replaced the board in one of these and then discovered when the earth leak was cleared the old board was OK anyway. Also drain pump had the cable ties and the sump was leaking. Integrated of course so a fun job all around. Customer swears it’s hardly been used. Such joy 😀

Hi,
if I remember rightly there was water in the base and motor was damp.

Those machines are a complete waste of time. Saw that customer in the street the other day. The Kitchen Co. (Howdens) had supplied a replacement, FOC I believe, (the woman is not the sort who’s easy to argue with) and now that’s gone wrong.
