Hi – This is a fairly easy straightforward job until the end when it becomes necessary to foam in the new thermistor. Messy and not easy to guess the correct amount due for the expansion etc.
On the last few of these i have used fiberglass loft insulation. Cut out the square of plastic on three sides leaving the bottom which can be bent to hinge down the flap. When the new thermistor is fitted pack the cavity with the fiberglass, hinge up the flap and seal with a good tape.
Also shrink sleeve butt splice connectors are much quicker than soldering the wires etc. Crimp on and a quick warm with a ciggy lighter.
Up to now i have had no problems and it makes the job much quicker and cleaner. About half an hour – sorted.
Another tip with these – make sure that any build up of ice/frost on the fridge wet back is defrosted otherwise it can give you the same syptoms that you had before fitting the new thermistor 😯
