ModeratorModel WMA34, cleared out a bunged up sump hose and fitted new brushes to this machine two weeks ago (CESET motor).
Customer complains that it now sticks half way through with lights flashing.
Called this afternoon, fortunately she had it on so it was well advanced into the washing cycle. It was tumbling merrily, the heater was working OK.
It then drained and did two short spins, the progress light did not move from wash to rinse, it started to fill for a few seconds whilst the pump was still running then cut out with doorlock, wash, rinse and spin lights lit. I guess if I had left it long enough they would have started flashing.Went through the last error detected routine and it flashed up a motor traic short circuit. 😯 😕
The PCB looks fine, the machine will wash & spin perfectly and when I set it to a rinse & spin only programme it worked OK. ❓ ❓
All the wiring harness is well out of the way and in good order, apart from corruption of the PCB I cannot think of any other cause of this.
Customer doesn’t want to spend on a PCB and I am pretty certain that this fault would not show up if I sent it to EMW for test.
Apart from sticking a new module in it just to satisfy my curiosity then removing it I can’t think of any other course of action.
Anyone else had anything like this?
Jim.

had a zanussi come up with a similar fault in my case was condensation on motor but carbon dust or and fault to earth might cause it
theory is if motor is neutral switched a short to earth will seem like a shorted triac
hope this helps

Mmm, but this fault occurs at exactly the same part of the cycle each time???

Hi Jim – there is obviously no problem with the triac as it works OK before the intermediate spin which seems to produce the error. Maybe the location in the eeprom that holds the reference data for this spin speed is corrupted and the tacho speed appears to the processor to be excessive on comparison. It therefore decides that the motor is out of control.
This might possibly be rectified by reprogramming the board if you have the button sequences for this model, worth a try.

Hi Jim,
you could just get a board from EMW and try it.Alan

I already carry one so my next step will be to ask them if they will let me try it out just to put my mind at rest. 🙂
I didn’t have the time to let it go through another full wash cycle today.

Hi Jim what type of sump is on it the rubber one or the plastic one, there was a mod to replace with 1604035 sump kit to cure sticking on rinse comes with pressure sw and flap valve, used to get caught out after i,d done a v2 tub on a few of them for some reason with the plastic sump they worked okay for years then after tub being fitted would stick in rinse, as a matter of course i whipped the flap valve out the pump on them when i changed the tub with machines with pastic sumps.
