ParticipantHi folks,
Our F+P Smartdrive 501 has developed a problem. It can almost complete a full wash, but every time it gets to the final stage of the cycle – the rinse – the machine stops working and beeps out this error code:
00010000It leaves the machine full of water and i have to keep switching it on and off in order to empty the water from the machine. It wil do so for about 5 seconds before it starts beeping again and the flow of water stops. I have to wait 5-10 mins and then switch it on to empty another bit of water for 5 secs before the machine cuts out again. This is a bit annoying as you can imagine!!
Can anyone shed some light on what might be going on? I’ve tried 3 or 4 times to see if the machine will fix itself (tried both hot and cold washes) but it can do the wash cycles fine, gets through the rinse and final rinse and then continually stops working at the spin stage.
If anyone can help, please let me know.
Thanks a lot in advance,
Dave

As far as I can tell, there’s a problem with the communications between the electronic boards. F+P suggest unplugging the machine and leaving it for a while and seeing if it clears. Otherwise, you’re probably looking at replacing the displat board.

Thanks Penguin, wil give that a try.
We’re on our second display board already after one of the buttons stopped working on the previous one!
Thanks again for taking the time to respond.
Cheers.

Hi
The error code you are getting at the spin part of the cycle on the GW501 could be masking the true fault code. I specialise in the repair of Fisher & Paykel Smart Drive machines including servicing my own computer modules.
The only way you can be shore that you are getting the correct fault code you need to get in the diagnostic mode that Penguin45 has posted a sticky on at the top of this forum.
If the fault code is 16 like Penguin45 has stated then is a comms problem between the display and the motor control module.
But if the version of software/firmware in display isn’t lined up with version in the motor controller then the universal error code displayed is 16 at the time of failing. You then need to go into the diagnostic mode to recover the actual fault code.
Cheers
Dave
