ParticipantHi,
I’ve had a good search through the forums and can’t find anyone else who’s had this problem so I’m appealing for help!
My Bosch Logixx SRS43E02GB has developed a fault where the machine will stop with approx 60 minutes left on the cycle (when using Auto programme) and the machine will die – no lights, no LED, power button is unresponsive, it’s like someone’s switched it off at the mains (but no fuses tripped or blown). On opening the machine the bottom will be full of dirty water (roughly up to the top of the salt reservoir cap)
I’ve disconnected the power, left it for 30 minutes, switched it back on and some of the time it will come back to life and work fine til the end of the cycle. Sometimes it’ll come on for 5 seconds, sometimes 5 minutes before cutting out again.
I’ve taken the button panel off and given it a good clean, checked connections (only visually, I have a tester but am not confident with it) and all appear OK. Tried another plug and socket but no improvement. Also checked the impellor and cleaned it out. Other than this fault, the machine is working fine. It also generally completes the ‘Quick’ programme without problem, most of the time.
I’m suspecting something like a faulty power switch, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

On/off switch is an obvious candidate but in my experience an unlikely one – generally very reliable. Some sort of break down in the pcb is a far more likely option. May be worth checking for burnt/cracked/dry solder joints on the pcb, but I wouldn’t hold out too much hope,
Power off if doing this yourself.

Great, thanks for the tip I will check it out and start pricing PCBs…quite expensive I’m guessing!
THanks

I’ve a Bosch SGS45E08GB/45 that has failed in a similar way and I can’t fix it. It has worked fine for several years but when I emptied it last time, all the lights were off (I had not pressed the off switch). Now no amount of switching on or off, unplugging, leaving etc will revive it.
The inside had milky water up to just below the door. I unplugged it and took off the top and side panels. Underneath is clean and dry as a bone, and when plugged in and power switch is pressed, I can lift the little red plunger on the bottom left and the pump runs and water flows out. I pointed the garden hose into the machine and hed the red plunger up and it merrily emptied all I could pour in, nice and cleanly.Next I unplugged it and attached an AC volt meter to various points, stood back and plugged it back in to test. There is power to the main front switch, and when the door is shut, there is power the other side of the door switch. There is also power to the small black rectangular jobbie located between the meaty looking heater element terminals. I don’t know what this is, but I wonder if it might be a fail switch.
Well I unplugged it and took the door apart, visually checked all the cable connections to the program buttons//LED light block but still no red lights, no LED numbers and no way to make anything work.
If there is a trip switch I can reset, or a likely part I can take out and test, I would love to know. I can see the expertise on these forums pointing to likely causes and solution so I live in hope.

1 thing to check is the continuity of the wiring from the door into the main body of the machine it can sometimes break at the hinge point, it can break inside the insulation so to all intents & purposes looks good to the naked eye.

surely first stop is clear all your filters? its possible something from you current wash has obstructed the drainage of water – clear thin plastic wrapping is great at doing this and youd never notice it if its fallen into your dw
th enext thing is to look in the base for waster leakage. sounds like it could be the anti-flood kicking in and cutting the machine out. if it was a wiring thru the door fault surely id expect it to fail the minute you shut the door – i.e agitate the cabling?
dont forget bosch dws are well known for seal failures. obviously this would normally happen after a few mins of filling but worth checking first if the seals only just given up before doing anything else.

Thanks Specialist01269 – I checked continuity and all seems fine for wires passing from door to main body.
And gandh1 – flood-trip switches are occasionally mentioned on these forums, but never with any indication of where they are located or how to reset them. My dishwasher seems dry as a bone underneath, but if you can point me to a trip-switch or rest switch that might be to blame, I’ll give it a go.

ParticipantTBH Toby , it sounds like a main control module failure.
The anti-flood switch is normally a microswitch located in the pressure chamber located on the left hand side behind the side panel. Its operated when the polystyrene float in the base lifts the red arm to operate the switch. However , the consequence of this is that if the appliance is turned on , the pump will be continually running , normally even with the door open.If you believe all power to be present and yet you’re still not getting any kind of display/lights lit on the control panel then i’d be looking at the control module

Thanks nomadPaul, and before I spend nearly £90 for a replacement (part number 49 3323 shown at https://www.bosch-eshop.com/eshop(bD1lbiZjPTAwOQ==)/bosch/gb/prodp.htm?prod=SGS45E08GB{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}2f45&ESHOPTYPE=S ) is there any way I can confirm it is that part – maybe a test which isolates this as the actual problem?

Unfortunately Toby , we are restricted to how much info on specific testing that we are allowed to post. We cannot promote live testing by general members of the public .May 20, 2009 at 8:10 pm #282714TobyD

Fixed – as NomadPaul suggested, it was the main electronic control module (part number 49 3323 shown at https://www.bosch-eshop.com/eshop(bD1lbiZjPTAwOQ==)/bosch/gb/prodp.htm?prod=SGS45E08GB{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}2f45&ESHOPTYPE=S )
I paid my £95 inc VAT and delivery and when it arrived I programmed it (using the simple key presses described with the delivery note). Re-assembled and all’s well.
So relief all round, but a few thoughts anyway:
I searched a lot for a generic replacement, since the siemens part number (EPG57108) is clearly used in many dishwashers, but I only found it on sale at the Bosch site. If anyone knows a cheaper outlet for others to try, would be worth posting.
The always excellent Joe Grahams in Luton would have sold me one over the counter for not a lot more, and were very helpful over the phone with advice.
There were no obvious signs of failure on the old unit cover or inside it – no burns, colouration, loose connections, damaged wires – nothing to indicate failure. So I still dont know why the unit failed.
My kids now know how to wash up, which is a bonusThanks again to all for the comments
