Participantevening all, hoping for a little help or guidance
i have a bosch classix express 1200 washing aching (the letter and numbers inside the door are as follows E-Nr wf02467gb/01FD 8505 608582) which is used about three times a day (family of five with three kids that seem unable to keep clean), and has worked albeit with a couple of minor hiccups well for around 4yrs or so. today however i think it died.
the missus noticed that when it got to the drain and spin cycle of a wash it failed to drain and as such then failed to spin. i popped open the hatch at the bottom and used the wee black tube to drain, and then it span. the missus left it a while and then tried again, with the same result. again repeated the draining and opened the valve at the bottom, at which point a small stream emptied over the floor. once the flow stopped i removed the seal and was greeted by the stench of something akin to strong solvents or mild burning. now i can get nothing on the led screen and no movement whatsoever. i have checked the drum and belt and both seem to be fine, i have changed the fuses in both the socket and the machine, all with little effect.
has anyone an idea of what i have done, as having looked online for prices for spares, repairs and callout charges, i am wondering if its worth it or should i just bite the bullet and buy another.
thanks for looking

Was the machine plugged in & turned on at the socket when you did this?

turned off at the main, and unplugged all the way thru. a small accident with electricity yrs ago has made me more than cautious.
by way of an update, i took the front control panel off, disconnected and reconnected a couple of the wires, cleaned it up a bit ( i know that did nothing to help it but it did make me feel a bit better) and tuned everything on, and bugger me its back to life. got it on a spin cycle, so will try a wash next, fingers crossed.

Confuscious he say: If bad connection, machine she no work & 1 thing we all do in the trade is clean and re-tension edge connectors when we have weird faults like this, surprising how often this can cure a fault.
Congratulations & I hope it keeps working for you, if not please post again & we will do our best to help.Andy.
Please Remember when working on your machine: POWER OFF & PLUG OUT. 🙂

thanks Andy, its almost at the end of the cycle, so hopefully it finishes – if it does both me and my wallet will be happy!!

You may require a new drain pump, click on “Find an Engineer” see if anyone near you.

Participantit could be the drain hoses are blocked causing a slow drain problem.
The machine will allow 6 mins to drain before it stops and shuts down. On the occasions when it hasn’t drained fully on the rinse cycle , did you get any flashing lights on the display ? These can indicate a fault display and may well be in your instruction manual .
The water levels are quite different between the wash and rinse cycles so it may be draining the water on the wash cycle within the 6 minute limit but the rinse level may be just too much.
To test this , switch the machine on and start it on a cotton cycle – wait until the machine has filled properly ( or just wait 3 mins ) and then switch to ‘drain’ . It should , in proper condition , drain within about 20 – 30 secs ( you will hear the tone of the drain pump change ) If it takes considerably longer , then a drain hose blockage or weak pump will be the probable cause .

i did try that and no draining at all, the only way to drain it is to do it maually, bugger!! thanks though, looks like an engineer or a new one

Can you hear the pump trying to drain or does it just hum/buzz ?
If , on a drain cycle , its trying to pump then its probably a blockage in the drainage system ?
If , on a drain cycle , its not making any noise ( or its making a hum/buzz ) then either there’s a blockage in the pump itself or the pump has died . If this is the case , undo the circular fluff filter at the bottom right corner and look inside it . You should see the impellor at the back. Check this for obstructions using a torch and i mean have a real GOOD look as something may be behind the impellor .
