    Your advice please.

I have a problem with my Bauknecht dynamic sense condenser tumble dryer, model TRK5970. I switch it on at the wall socket and the indicator lights and internal light come on as expected and all seems well but as soon as I press the Start/Pause button the main earth leakage circuit breaker for the house trips. My local electrical appliance repairman (who we get on well with) is on holiday and I don’t want to call out an engineer from our nearest large town if its something that could be done by a reasonable competent DIY’er. So far I have fallen at the first hurdle, as despite having removed the screws from the back panel and the two screws from the top I still cannot remove the back panel or the top.javascript:emoticon(‘:?:’)

Can you please tell me how to get the top off so that I can then remove the back panel I know that all I will see is a sealed unit below the drum but I think there may be some water in there possibly causing trouble, is there a way in to the unit to get it cleared out or I can see what’s going on inside. If it is not water causing the problem does anyone know what it might be?

My intention is only to see if there is an obvious fault such as a loose connection or leaking pipe, I would not be prepared to venture further.

1st Edit.15:47 16/4/09 On further inspection (plug out and power off) reaching finger tips through the “Tunnel” that houses the Condenser there appears to be water in the base of the unit is this to be expected ie a sump or should it be dry?

    WARNING ..I’M NOT AN ENGINEER

But I’d suggest that you have a problem with fluff/dust buildup getting damp and tracking down to earth. normally, any condensate will not affect electrical safety.

    Thanks Cockney Steve.
That was the way I was thinking, that’s why I was trying to get inside. Can anyone tell me how to gain access as there’s obviously a trick to it.
