    Hi,

The fan element recently went on my Smeg cooker and so I ordered a new part from Servevast as I wanted to make sure it was a genuine Smeg part. I have taken the old element out and was going to fit the new one (part No. 806890591) when I noticed that there was no connector for the earth! I bought the oven in 2005 and I assume that they have changed the element since then. Can anyone tell me where I am supposed to fit the new earth connector to?

    Thanks,

    Stu1

Hi Stu: The old connector is normally a spade that fits to the Earth tag, you need to cut this off & crimp on a Ring terminal instead, this is then fitted under the Element fixing.
It has been said that you can cut the wire back & tape it off, this is wrong it’s there for your safety and MUST be re-fitted.
Crimp connectors should be available from your local, Car parts or DIY shop.

Thanks, it’s all sorted now. Not sure why they changed it as it took ages to crimp on the ring terminals and all they supply you with is a couple of bolts! Would have been much easier if they had kept to the old design.

Hi Stu: They seem to call it progress for some reason, anyway glad you got it sorted: Andy 8)
