KeymasterIt so happens that I’ve had to hunt down thin hose clips like the ones used on the Whirlpool dishwasher hoses as they are a pain to get. I know that in some cases you can get away with a cable tie but it’s not ideal.
Anyway, I found them finally.
Worm drive (flat screw/nut) driven that are only 8mm wide and available in the following sizes…
- 8mm BAND
SIZE mm
6 – 16 NS
8 – 22
11 – 25
13 – 27
14 – 32
18 – 38
25 – 44
31 – 51
38 – 57
44 – 63
50 – 70 NS
65 – 88The one’s marked “NS” are not normally stocked items and, while they can be ordered, they wouldn’t be readily available.
I do need to order them anyway for ISE/UKW use so if anyone wants to order some I’ll happily tag it on.
Here’s the good bit…
Because we’re buying them in bulk they should cost between 20p up to 50p per clip plus the usual VAT/carriage, so cheap as chips. Certainly a LOT cheaper than the Whirlpool affairs and a lot easier to use. 🙂
If anyone wants any just let me know and what sizes.

I would be interested in the ones that fit Whirlpool pumps, and Indesit/Hotpoint circulation pumps & tube heaters. Unfortunately the odd new ones I have don’t have any sizes on them. 😕
Are they measured by Max/Min diameter or length ?
Jim.

the proper type as fitted oem are the following sizes:
Ind/hpt/Haier circ pump 31.4mm
Ind/hpt d/w heater 47mm.
assume that is the size when closed up using the tool. Given that, would expect Kens 18-38 and 31-51 would be suitable alternatives. would like to see them first though.Dont have the whirlpool sizes and it should be noted that the Smeg ones are re useable anyway.

That is a good deal Ken.
Typical just had some delivered from http://www.stagonset.co.uk £16.57 for 12 clips 😥 they were stainless though.
The outside diameter of the tubular Hotpoint/Indesit dishwasher element(C00057684) is 40mm so clip 44mm to 63mm should do the trick Jim 😉

Thanks guys, price is a bit steep though, only marginally better than Indesit list price for a single 1801927 thin hose clip of £7.82 ex vat. 😯
😆Just measured a 1801927 and it is 28-39 but is only 5mm wide.

These clips would also be handy for the latest Zanussi washing m/c tub to pump hose as they are now using a crimp on clip at the pump that is not reusable.

Did a WP dishwasher yesterday and made a mental note of jubilee clip sizes becuase I always forget them and end up with loads of the wrong sizes.
Sump hose I used a 16-32mm clip (bit tight opened right to limit) and for the tube heater I used 30-40mm. The heater was a bit too tight and had to completely unscrew it, put it on the hose and pull it tight to start it off again. But it worked with not too much effort. I tried a 35-50 on the heater but it was too big. Even got both of the thin clips here in my hand to if you want me to measure them or put a few piccies up??

I got an e-mail from RS today of the spam variety almost. Promoting their latest offers of 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} (wow!) off etc. However among the offers I noticed a cable tie tensioner for fifty five quid 😯 . Intrigued, I went off to their site to browse. Somehow i came across “stainless steel cable ties”. You have to buy 100 at a time at £65 to £95 ++ but they’re certainly good quality and range from 4.6mm width (although the saddle measures 6.3mm). You can also buy a tool to pull them tight and cut the ends off for just £375 but I would imagine pliers could achieve a similar effect.
Has anyone here any experience of these things?

The sizes are, as an example, “65-88” would be from a minimum of 65mm to a maximum of 88mm diameter. Over 90mm in these sorts of clip is an issue I’m informed.
I’ve got a few Whirlpool motors arriving tomorrow, I will confirm the clip sizes on them.
For tube heaters, good call Jim, I’ll check a few tomorrow and get the sizing as they’re a PITA as well at times.
The reason for this is that a few of the hose fixings I’ve seen lately use these thin clips, they’re a pain and the specials need special tools which as Mike rightly points out, usually aren’t exactly cheap. I can get the compression type affair but we come back to the damn tool being expensive.
So, this is the best I could source that you can fit with a screwdriver or nut runner which makes life oh so much easier when what you’re trying to fit is a pain to get into.
We tried the metal cable ties as well, didn’t go so well. Okay and sort of worked, but we’re not convinced that they’d stay on over a period of time. Screw up clips stay there, end of, so no recall and, I like that prospect.

Hi Ken: Do we order in batches of 10 per size?

Right, as we have obviously got to get the sizes correct. Here a few piccies of WP circ motor and the clips I used for another job the other day.

30-40mm on the heater side
http://www.flickr.com/photos/35093787@N07/3464641019/Anything bigger is just too big 35-50mm:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/35093787@N07/3464641027/On the other end 16-32mm:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/35093787@N07/3464641013/That’s not the full story, when you look at them side by side the jubilee clips need to be a bit larger to fit over the ridge at the end:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/35093787@N07/3464641039/For the heater end I think 25-44mm and the other end 14-32mm or 18-38mm should be fine. Not having seen them it’s difficult to judge the quality and how they retain their shape when fully opened or closed – I’m open to suggestion for the sizes, what size are they described on SIOS?? ….but I definately want some for these jobs and others. HTH 😀
