Hi there, I have a 3 month old Whirpool 20RUD3J American stsyle side by side Fridge Freezer and it’s causing me problems already.

First symptom of a problem was that it started continually making ice, I opened the freezer door and ice cube spilled all over the kitchen floor. I turned the water off and then cleared out all the ice I could get to, Also the digital display on the front of the door was going crazy. Every light was flashing from RED to GREEN and BLUE and beeping, the temperature displays were cycling through numbers constantly. I have powred the whole thing off for over 30 minutes and the same symptoms come back again. The whole thing seems to settle down after a couple of hours but the unit sticks in vacation mode meaning my fridge is not up to temperature.

Has anyone of you knowledgable people got any ideas what this is and why a new product would suffer this fault?

Looking forward to your responses. 😀

TURN OFF THE WATER TO THE FRIDGE. PHONE WHIRLPOOL TO BOOK A SERVICE CALL. THE NUMBER WILL BE AT THE FRONT OFF THE BOOK

    Update:

Called Whirlpool and the engineer came out and confirmed that these side by sides were shipped with a dodgy control board which generally last 6 months. Mine was nearly 3. Basically he has ordered a new control board and an ice maker valve, as that had melted due to continually making ice.

The new board is a software update and should completely stop this problem.

    Here’s hoping.

Oh yes it is also two weks more waiting for the parts!
    That’s rubbish service. 👿
