ParticipantGood Afternoon all,
I have just arrived home only to find that the bottom of the door seal has torn slightly. now when the machine fills up i get a little leak from around the base of the door. It’s not so much a big problem more annoying as i have to put a towel in front of the machine.
So can anyone tell me,
Can you adjust the seal and move it around slightly so the tear os on the side instead of the bottom
OR
Does it require a replacement, if so could you tell me which one i would need as i’ve looked in the shop section and can’t find any that match
Thanks alot

It will require replacing.
NOT a cheap replacement either… actually got a huge shock when i seen the price “trade” to me.
as for the part number.. my supplier changes this to their part number..so to give u it would be pointless.
But be prepared for a shock. 😕April 25, 2009 at 7:43 pm #284110neilwakeman

Dont just use my pricing as the set price or anything… another trade member may be able to find u a suitable replacement cheaper so give this thread time… but ive been quoted over 50 to me. 😕

i have come across quite a lot of door gaskets getting little rips out of the lip that seals against the door glass but havnt yet fathomed out why… logical answer possibly a zipper or something… has anyone found the answer?
always seems to be about the size of a penny piece.April 25, 2009 at 9:50 pm #284113iadom

Small rips in the door seal, usually at the bottom are always caused by impatient users closing the door and trapping a piece of the laundry in between the seal and the glass.
User misuse every time. :lesson:

strewth snap over £50 too
for a bit of rubber. and LJ how are we sposed to make a margin on that srp either lol!
had a thought tho, some of the latest samsung washers have been given 5yr promo P&L warranties. and often theyve had 2 yr ones too so might be worth digging out that reciept as im not familiar with that actual model but might be worth a go at blagging a free call out 😛

Hi,
😳 must have not loaded the machine properly.
💡 Can you move the seal round slightly so the tear is further round, or do they only fit in one position?
£50.00 for a door seal, suppose that what happens when you buy a samsung washer instead of a standard brand.

Not familiar with that model but there are very few, if any modern door seals that are symmetrical like the old Hoover used to be. Most of them have drain holes at the bottom and are moulded inside to allow for the hinge & doorlock etc.
If you think that is dear then don’t buy a Miele washer/dryer, one of the seals for those was around £245.00 a couple of years back, think they have reduced them a little since. :rolls:

Dunno if any manufacturer would guarantee a door gasket with a fault of that nature developing?
And am sure if i went out and quoted 70 to 80 to replace on the same machine i mite get branded a rip off merchant unless the customer tried sourcing the part themselves and re-alised the cost?

Gandh1 + LJD – please conduct any trade related discussions in the Trade Forums. Future posts of this nature will be deleted from the Public Forums.
NW – please contact spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk with your requirements for a quote which is likely to be as competative as any for Samsung components.

Thanks penguin,
I have emailed spares and hopefully will get back to me soon.
You guys were right about the drainage holes, found them located under the inner lip at the bottom.Looks like its gonna cost me.
