ParticipantCould anyone help me with a replacement lower basket for a Hotpoint Super Plus 7820 dishwasher lower basket. My husband put plastic glasses in it above the element, they duly melted and fused themselves to the basket and also destroyed a number of the wheel attachments. I tried my local store who said the part is now obsolete. Is there anyway to get one or is there another model whose basket would fit (I’ve searched on the internet with no joy)?
It is 523 (deep) x 526 (wide) x 210 (height) mm.
Many thanks
Susan

These have been declared obsolete by the Indesit Company for some years now. 😥
Sadly not the sort of thing that anyone is likely to have hanging around either.
I don’t know of any others that might fit. This was one of the few dishwashers that Hotpoint actually produced themselves, I don’t think the earlier or later Bosch made ones are the exact same size but I doubt it.

New wheels aren’t though Susan. Just buy a new set of wheels and fit them to the old basket and I’m sure that will be more than adequate in solving the problem. 😉

The problem is that the posts the wheels are attached to have been damaged, at present some of the wheels are welded to the basket and some of the other posts are misshappen.
I’ll have to try to see if I can rescue the old basket, though it will take a long time if it possible at all. Thanks for the help, at least I have confirmed that a replacement is not an option.

The posts can easily be ‘reshaped’ and with new wheels it’s back and usable. 🙂
A new bottom basket is still available (via Bosch mind you) at around £90. 😯

Are you sure the Bosch basket will fit Martin, the 7820 is not a Bosch produced machine. AFAIK the basket is slightly wider on the Bosch one but I suppose it could be sqeezed in. 🙂

Thanks again. I still have the problem of plastic from the beakers welded to the basket and the back posts, but if I can get that off (job for the weekend when I have a bit more time), I’ll go with the new wheels. It would be good if I could find a new basket as the old one is very tired, though £90 is rather too steep. Maybe if Bosch do the same size that I could get as a generic, I’ll investigate that as well. It is an ancient machine, but I’m keen to keep it going as this vintage seem a lot more reliable than the new ones.
