Yep: That was when things were made for quality & not down to a price, you won’t see most of todays stuff lasting 6 years let alone 60 🙁 they call what we have today progress, I know what I call it but the Mods would probably give me an ear bashing if I wrote that 😆

Trouble is Andy, If things lasted as long as that we’d all be fighting each other for the work – more so than we are at the moment !

Good old “*******” (insert manufacturers name here) for their reliability issues !!! Hooray for piles of cheap rubbish ! 😈 😈 😈

I prefer to do my upmost to make sure it lasts another few years.. this way when a member of the customers family have a issue then im sure i would be reccomended tenfold..
I know what u mean but i don’t see how going back to the same machine many times in a year or two actually looks good for business… wether it be a different fault or not?
Just my way of thinking but yes u are also right in what you are saying….
But then again we all have or seem to have a gripe about low end products and the enviroment etc?

Don’t we all do our upmost for our customers then ?

I’m not saying it looks good going back time & time again to a machine – The customer bought a cheap machine – Thats their look-out ?
I get the same customers calling me up to repair their w/m, d/w etc because i get it fixed for them – Not because of the reliability issues of the appliance & I always put a 3 month warranty on any parts fitted.

I think you may have taken my post slightly out of context as it was a tongue in cheek post ! 😉

I wasnt being malicious or anything bud.. i just think sometimes without realising it we tend to contridict ourselves…after all there is trademen who will try and stear the public into a quality product and then there is also high street stores that stock nothing but low end to “get that sale” different methods for different companies thats all.

    Re: Old Machine’s

what i mean is ( damn its hard to type so quick with my daughter yanking on my trouser legs )… around my area there is domestic appliance repair shops that stock nothing but the cheapest brands of appliance ( yes i know its supply and demand ) they will gladly sell a low end product saying its all singing and dancing ..then just out of warranty it actually does start singing and dancing.. customer rings the same shop.. ” well you did go for a cheap brand” says the salesman/engineer..
But he could possibly be hoping then to go repair it or even replace it again…i see some of these shops with 2 to 3 high all low end.
Also there is tradesmen that pick and choose the job.. like one customer told me he rang a local shop before he wrang me to go look at hes built in d/w.. only to get the resonse ” ya jokin arnt ya mate..i can repair 2 washing machines the time it will take to get that out from under your worktop”.
Hence i went and done it… i wonder who will be getting called when hes washer goes wrong?

I think a lot of the time its mind games to get progress or a decent name for yorself etc… and with comments like that he gave the customer… i dunno how they get the work.. but they are.. a lot more than me. 😕
