ParticipantI have a query im certain will get a answer for here before i reply.
I have had a email from john hopwood with regard to a meet up in the very near future for showing a interest in become a repair/service agent within my district, one of the things john mentions is showing me the product as he will have some of these beuties with him.
My query is.. if accepted in becoming a service agent will i be expected to purchase machines at the start ( stock ) and also be expected to stock spares for the brand from the outset before i even start ?Also yes… becoming a agent would entail me doing ALL jobs on site and in situ.. lol. 😆
This brand i am very excited at the prospect of working on and maintaining.
Just need a heads up because if this is the case i dont want to waste johns time or mine… the funds are quite limited at the moment although i would love to have some of this product in my clutches. 8)

Stocking a machine is your choice as well as any spares.
When the ISE5 first came out we were armed with a selection of spares.
On the latest machines spares are stocked at your own expense. As always in this trade having new machines and spares in stock create a better service.
On the one drum job I have had to undertake I loaned the customer a machine and took their one to the workshop. 😉
I haven’t been reprimanded yet. 🙂

All stock is supplied FOC at the moment. All of the earlier ISE 5’s are still under the five year parts warranty. My first one of those went was installed in Mar06. My first ISE2 was installed in Nov 07 so those will also be covered until Nov 09.
AFAIK, there are various methods that can be arranged, I think the initial stocking level is 2 or 3 machines. Ken will no doubt let you know if John doesn’t pick up on this.
The best move I ever made in the past three years. 8)

Thanks guys..
The reason i ask is mainly due to the fact these look like the bees knees and with such a long warranty period and possibly no faults happening unless a odd freak of nature i cannot see myself being in huge demand but would love to have ISE agency work on my portfolio..
Also the area im in there is a lot of poverty so i think many sales or repairs may be very limited..dont get me wrong there is a lot of wealthy people in the area.. but there was also over two thousand in this area made redundent only last week. 😕So im only assuming most around here buy medioca to low end machines.. aint knockin em for it.. just a fact maybe.

Hi LJ,
Jim is correct, we tried to anticipate and issue van stocks but between some people taking the Mickey with it and that half the spares have never been used it became daft to do it. We invested a lot of money into it and with almost no return. This is not the fault of the agents at all, it’s just the way things happened really.
What we started to do was to issue stock to the agents that had machines, usually a lot, in their area as it was required in agreement with the agent and us. That meant that we all knew where we were and there wasn’t stock laying about that nobody was using or wanted.
In short, we all learned and, we’re still learning.
We don’t expect anyone to buy stock of either spares or machines that they don’t want.
We also don’t stipulate anything about uplifts either. 😉
It’s real simple, so long as the job gets done and the customer is happy we’re happy and that’s generally how we try to go about things.
However it amazes me where we put machines into and how many people are happy to invest in the likes of the ISE10, usually because they’re hacked off with cheap rubbish that they just had condemned and, the one before that and, the one before that! Some people actually do wake up, smell the coffee and buy something decent rather than a cheap junker.
But John usually has a 10 on the back of his van, just have a look for yourself.

Thanks ken.
In many situations i have done and continue and try to talk people into buying quality and on many occasions i have success even when they are on a tight budget… My methods i think are good ones and i also never try to push anyone into anything they cant physically afford.
I do go to many a well off household and can really give the gift of the gab when need be ( without any smoke screens or bullsh*t ) and talk people into a decent product.
And as u may now be aware by recent posts i take pride in the product ( regardless of brand ) and am very true to my customers and pride myself in the service i give them.
For this reason alone i really would enjoy being part of the ISE team in respect of being a service agent..
I will return johns email, thanks for the help. 8)April 29, 2009 at 9:45 am #285269Redflame
