ParticipantCan any one tell me what the float activated micro switch located by the drain pump is for? Is the drain pump activated by the switch or is the pump surposed to run all the time? This machine always appears to work OK for me in my workshop but when returned to the customer she says it will not fill the water tank. Its doing my head in. Even my wife has been driving the T/Dryer with no problem. The initial fault with this machine was that the RCD was tripping caused by water overflowing due to lint built up in the pump sump. I stripped the machine and cleaned the pump sump etc, all appeared to be ok.
Any hints would be appreciated.

You say it dosen’t fill water tank, but pump is running, have you cleared the black tube that runs from pump to water container, this is proberly blocked had same fault last week, clear and try again. the mirco switch is a flood protection device, ie if water cant pump out, machine cuts out.

Checked the black tube and the small plastic nozzel that fits on the end at the tank housing. I have seen the water comming out of the nozzel with the tank removed so the pump is doing the job. As I said I have no problems with the dryer in the workshop, only when the woman drives it! It could of course be an intermittant fault!

The microswitch operates the pump when there’s sufficient water in the pump chamber. Hence the pump starts and stops throughout a normal dry cycle.
The most usual fault is indeed lint blockages from the condenser matrix and cavity behind. Unless it’s cleaned completely of debris, blockages are likely. Also pumps do wear and can stick so if lint isn’t an issue in this case a new pump might be the best solution? 😉
