Hello again,
the motor is banging against the side of the washing machine whilst the drum is turning clockwise – doesn’t do it all the time, I think it was some slow pre-spin routine. its okay during the wash and fast spin cycle, and only when something heavy is inside.
The drum is “off centre” and is leaning to the right – should I replace the springs? or do the drums always “lean”?

It sounds as though the suspension is shot.
I was going to post a link to the suspension kit in the forum Shop@ but servers seem to be choking ATM. 😥

THIS is what you may need, beware though not a simple job to change, physically quite demanding.

Iadom will be spot on with suspension problem, have a look at your door seal, does it look all wrinkled at the right hand side?, if so this can confirm suspension probs.
If you wish to venture further, unplug machine from wall socket remove two screws from rear to release and remove top lid and check that the top front and rear tub retaining springs are not broken.
