ParticipantHelp! SDW60 – No hot water – Machine doesn’t complete a cycle and the delicate light flashes. Apparently this is an AL08 Error “Time Out – Heat” I’ve metered the heater – 28 Ohms so I asume this is ok. Can I test the control board somehow or does anyone have any other ideas?

It could just be the NTC loose inside the door. It is hard wired to the control PCB and slots into a small clip in the inner door. The PCB itself is very prone to failure as well. No simple way to test but not that expensive to change. Watch the edges of the inner door, very sharp.

Thanks for the response, I checked the NTC position, seemed ok, clipped in fairly tightly. I metered the resistance at about 1.9K Ohms at room temp, strapped it to the outside of a kettle and boiled it. Resistance went down to about 1.65K Ohms, I presume this means the NTC is ok. Do you have any details of the components on the control card? It seems that diodes DZ02 and D004 are knackered. It would be good if I can replace the bad components, otherwise I’ll take a chance and order a new card.

Most of the people ‘in the field’ don’t get into board level repairs due to time constraints amongst other things, particularly on these boards which are fairly cheap, in every sense of the word. :rolls:
In fact UKWG’s has stopped supplying Indesit dishwasher boards because they are simply too much aggro.
The part number should you wish to take a punt on the board is a C00143213.
That is unless you are unlucky enough to have a Chinese built Indesit dishwasher masquerading as a Hotpoint., then you will need the full serial number, the Chinese ones have two different, far more expensive PCB’s. 😥
If the full model number ends in C, for instance SDW60PC then it is Chinese.
The technical information supplied by the manufacturer does not give any board level information of any kind whatsoever.

Thanks again for the quick response.
And of course, which model do I have?….. SDW60P..C..!!! Rubbish!
£65.00 for a new board from Hotpoint and still not sure if that will fix it. 🙁May 5, 2009 at 9:16 pm #285677fridge_1

15p later and all is fixed!
I replaced the zener diode at DZ02 (Which had shorted) and all is good. Just for reference I used a BZX79C 12V (Part No QH16S from Maplin £0.15) Not sure if the ratings quite right (0.5W) But it works.
