ParticipantI’ve just installed a new Moffat double oven (MBD900X), grill and top oven work fine. But no joy with bottom oven. At first I thought it was a timer issue, but have tried timing oven automatically as well as without timer. Nothing happens when oven should come on, no red indicator on panel, no light, no fan, no heat. Obviously I’ll try the manufacturers, but is it likely to be something very simple?
Any ideas? The manual isn’t of much help beyond simple troubleshooting…

Are you sure its an oven, you posted your question in the dishwasher forum. 😉
Moved you to correct place. 🙂

Hmm, maybe it is a dishwasher and that’s the problem after all. I’ll get some fabric softener, and see if that helps 😆
Thanks for putting me somewhere more sensible!

If it helps, it seems thermostat is ok maybe, I can hear it “clicking in” as I turn the oven temp dial, and its clicking in at a slightly lower temp today, as its a bit nippier…
hmmmm

Is the problematic oven the fan oven?

Have you set the clock, the main oven will likely be supplied through that to enable the timing etc without setting it the oven is usually dead.

Yes, was the first thing I tried. Was upset when it didn’t spring to life after doing it,that’s when I realised something was a bit awry. Thanks anyway tho.
Currently am trying to disssemble oven to get to the components, does anyone know if there is an engineers manual for this, or similar electrolux/aeg double oven?

Hmm, another wierd thing. In the manual it says “indicator neons will turn on and off during use to show temperature of the dual grill, top oven or main oven is being maintained”. I am getting no indicator neon activity with the grills (in top oven compartment) though they are fully working. neons work as expected for top oven. Is the manual wrong, or is this another fault?
I have oven apart but without service manual it’s not obvious what could be wrong with main oven. Cable from timer to main oven control knob, gives 0V on initialpower on, and 240V once clock set, so I think timer is not the problem….

Fixed it!!!
😀 😀 😀
It was the oven control switch, narowed it down to this then took it out to inspect. A tiny ball of the packing polystyrene had got lodged in the switch, cushioning and preventing the contact…
well at least I know how the oven works a little better now
Even though i managed it in the end, thanks for being there…..
