    Hi Guys

Many years ago we used to get a good deal from numatic direct as they just wanted independent dealers to sell & repair thier products.

You could easily sell for around £150 for these because of the reliability and make a reasonable profit.

Then like most companies want bigger market share so start selling in the likes of Argos, B&Q & Homebase which has pushed the retail price right down and you make virtually nothing, and of couse with that now the quality has also dropped.

Just seen an ad in one of the national papers Homebase selling them for £75. Customers think you are now ripping them off when they ask you what you sell yours for. I nearly pay that trade price it will soon be cheaper to buy them from them!

Telephoned my rep who said his hands are tied as these large places order thousands and with no real retail price they can sell them for what they want.

He said the only way is to complain to Numatic sales director?

Oh i can see I am a real threat: :rolls:

Cant believe why these companies do it, when you can sell a perfectly good product at such a stupid price and no one makes any money.

    Hi Steven

I know exactly where you are coming from, trouble is manufacturers are looking to increase volume in order to appease the hiearchy, maintain job security and pay a dividend to their shareholders.

We no longer stock the “standard” Henry but carry the NRV200 commercial version with the wider skirt for added stability, just gives us a little edge over the competition 😉 You can get them from DAD at Gloucester for £69.99 plus VAT, we sell out at £99.99. To increase the margin on the sale I make sure a pack of bags is sold at the same time.

Funny we were just having this very same discussion on Friday afternoon.
We used to have a regular turnover of Numatic Henrys along with a healthy flow of associated service work. Now that everyone and their dog is selling Numatic and the fact that Numatic will not allow an even playing field I think that a lot of Indies will lose interest in the Numatic Products.

Go back to Homebase out of warranty and tell them that it won’t start ! they will be full of ideas how to get it working again. Numatic need to look after their entire customer base and it is indeed very shortsighted to throw all the goodwill of the independent trade away in favour of the sheds for whom knocking out a pot cleaner for £ 75.00 is a lost leader in the scheme of things. Once the indies no longer want to buy Numatic products and all the spares like contact sets, motors, bags and tools the loss may not balance with the quick buck !
