    Hi,

I have an Electrolux Aqualux 1000 washing machine that has stopped draining. When I run the drain cycle “Q” I can hear a pump motor trying to drain but there is a clicking/rattling sound as if something is loose or caught inside.

I’ve cleaned out the user serviceable filter and checked the drain hose and all seems to be clear. I’ve run the drain cycle a number of times and there is still some water sitting in the filter “socket”.

I suspect that either something is blocking the pump or something within the pump has come adrift

Does anyone have any ideas – is this something that can be repaired (the pump appears to be a sealed unit)?

    Many thanks……

It sounds as though the pump impellor has come adrift. It will need a new pump body at the very least, you may not need the full pump and filter assembly.

Worth making sure you fit a genuine one if you intend to have a go yourself. Most Zanussi pumps have an internal overload fitted, some of the non gen ones don’t have this and subsequent pump failure can take out the main circuit board.

Be sure to remove the mains plug if you intend to investigate further.

    Jim.

    Thanks Jim,

I think this could be a job for the professionals – I’ve had a look around inside and I can see myself breaking all the clip fixings tring to get the pump housing out.

The pump and filter etc. are all housed in a single white plastic unit with integral moulded fixings – the fixings look almost as if you would need a special tool to release them (either that or break them and replace the whole casing).

    All the best

    Dave 🙂
