    Hello

Our trusty old WFF 2000 washer has developed a few ‘issues’. It’s flashing the prewash light 4 times at the end of the cycle – I understand this is the brushes being worn.

But it also makes a funny noise when it spins – a sort of metallic rattle. Could the brushes make it noisy? Sometimes now it won’t spin at all, just makes a noise.

Also, the programme dial is sticky – sometimes it stops and you have to manually shift it along.

Is it worth repairing this washer – or is it time to retire it to the great laundry in the sky? It’s 12 years old at least.

    thanks

Classic brush failure! A new set should see a few more years out of it 😉

Thanks – would the brushes also make the metallic rattle when it spins?

Noises are subjective things but failing brushes make a crackling noise on spin. The test is when the machine is in full spin switch off and the noise should immediately stop long before the drum stops 😉

New brushes in, working again. Thanks for help and advice.

How long can these machines keep going for? – when I opened her up she seemed a well built thing.

They certainly are quite durable, of course how much longer it lasts depends on too many variables to predict and the end of it’s life will be an economic decision…but they do have a very good track record 😉
