ParticipantHi,
I’m hoping someone might be able to help me, I bake cakes at home a lot and I have been having some problems lately with the temperature of the fan assisted oven.
The temperature differs greatly throughout the oven- almost 10 degrees between top and middle shelf (cooler as you go down the oven). It takes nearly 40 mins to get up to temperature. I’m going to try using the other oven on the right (not fan assisted) – which incidentally gets up to temp quicker than the fan assisted oven and see how that compares.
The fan assisted oven has elements at the top and bottom. I’m guessing the bottom element may have gone but wanted to ask for advice before I order a replacement.
Thank you for reading,

is there a selector switch for multi functions on that oven. if you are using the mode with fan and two elements the chances are that one element is down. if there is a selection with a picture of a fan with a circle around it try that mode. this would be the normal fan oven mode.
just had a look at the spares list, it does have upper and lower elements as you said but it also has a circular fan oven element around the fan. most fan ovens (without the multi function facility) would have just the one circular element.

Hi,
Thank you for your help.
Yes there is a selector switch and I have tried using the function with the fan symbol and a circle around it and it works fine. The oven gets up to temperature quite quickly.
Could you let me know what this means?
Thanks

The symbol with the fan and circle means ‘fan heat only’. The element encircles the fan much like a fan heater. The symbol with the fan and two lines above and below the fan indicates conventional cooking using the top and bottom elements with fan assistance. 🙂

this proves that the thermostat is ok, and you are probably correct about the lower element being faulty. if you switch on the oven function using both elements and keep your hand on the base of the oven it should get hot fairly quickly, and the outer part of the grill element also will get very hot quickly (carefull not to burn yourself). if the base does not get hot quickly its about 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} chance its the element. if you require anymore help on getting a spare part etc email me or give me a call (ask for Barry)
