    Hi!

Inherited a Hotpoint WD440 washing machine after moving into new house. The washing machine seems to be sticking on “Wash” and not moving onto “Rinse and Spin”.

For instance, last night I had a couple of items in it for a quick wash, which according to the instructions should only take 30 mins. It was still on “Wash” after well over an hour. None of the warning lights seem to be lighting up. It only moved to Rinse and Spin when I moved it on manually. It then continued to finish normally.

Did a quick search on google, but couldn’t see anything like this mentioned. Has anyone seen this before?

I have a hotpoint ashing machine, although a different model it had the exact same symptons, eg select a 40min wash and thetimer would say it would take 3 hours, or select a rinse and it would do a wash.

It turned out to be the selection switch unit that needed replacing – machine was only a few months old.

It could be the heater at fault or a fault in the heater circuits.

If it has a separate temperature control, try setting that to off or zero then set it to any wash and see if it completes the cycle.

    Jim.
