    Hi guys.

Can anybody explain what the optical water indicator(OWI) is on this dishwasher as I have a fault code identifying it as the cause of the problem….fills for a short time then empties with start button neon flashing.

    thamks.

    Chris.

OWI = turbidity sensor. Never seen one myself but have had an f11 on a machine that didn’t have one 😕 .
It is widely written that if you give the black grid in the side of the sump (which you can get to after removing the filter screen/s) a gentle but thorough clean with a toothbrush that this will often sort it.

    ChrisR,
I’ve had this problem many times on Whirlpool/Diplomat dishwashers in that the machine fills for a few seconds and then drains.
Every possiblity you will need a Reg dosage (part number 481241868368)
The electrial connection gets contaminated and may just need a clean.
More than likely the wheel at the base of the reg dosage has failed
Also check drip tray for flooding
