crash
ParticipantHotpoint TDC60P 8 years old, faultless up until now.
It does everything apart from produce heat, and the ‘drying’ light does not stay on for more than a second. I scoured the forum here and on the net and replaced the thermostats at the rear, today. The only difference it has made is that I am now aware of the relays on the Dryness Sensor board clicking away for a second or two before the ‘drying’ light goes out and it reverts to cold air. You can feel some warmth there so I am happy that the heater is working. Having read mad_potato’s almost identical scenario, back in Feb 09, I am resigned to the problem being the Dryness Sensor board.
Quick question…….Is it worth spending £100+on an 8 year old machine?
I am tempted to go for the repair, I know someone in the trade who I will use, and risk the machine lasting only a little bit longer. the alternative is that the part represents a £100 discount off of a new machine, I am thinking of a Bosch.Any input would be appreciated as I need to get moving on this pronto, luckily the dry weather coming takes the pressure off.
Cheers

Ok, thought about it all day and have decided to get a new machine. I guess 8 years is not too bad for a machine that is used almost every day.

unbelievably the dryer has come back to life!!
I am now probably going to cancel new machine prior to delivery if it holds out and keeps working tomorrow.
Of course having tried it all day it chose the minute after I placed the order to go back to work!!Does anyone have any experience of a dryness Sensor board problem like this?

Had the same problem on my own TDC60P earlier this year.
A sharp knock to the right hand side of the machine sometimes caused the heat light to illuminate but it usually dropped out within a few minutes.
I suspected either a loose connection or a bad heater relay on the pcb.
Having disassembled & reassembled all the connections to the pcb the problem still persisted.I purchased a replacement Schrack 16amp relay from Farnell (of the same type as fitted to the board,) but prior to fitting this I decided to re-solder the existing relay pins on the pcb.
This appeared to cure the fault – probably a dry joint.
As of today I’ve had no further problems with the machine. -
