80{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of what I wash is at 30deg, it’s mainly all cycling clothes occasionally mud spattered but mostly just fresh sweat from riding, is there anyway to default one of the programs say coloured/cottons to 30deg?
I know it’s easy to change manually for each wash but on any wash I could have £2-400 of cycle clothes in the wash and one forgetful moment could be very expensive. Also what powder is the best to use in the machine, I don’t use fabric softener at all if that makes a difference.
Also I’d like to give a big thumbs up to Ron at Ron’s Repairs for being all around fantastic from delivery to putting in my temporary(till ISE start shipping theirs again…HINT HINT) dishwasher which was a “ooh could you do this as well while your here please?”
Think I’ll be doing my first VERY small load in a sec as I only moved in yesterday and have no idea where my pants are 8)

Hi Rikk,
If you’re washing clothing that you’ve been out cycling in then the clothing is classed as being very heavily soiled. Sweat and skin flakes will be virtually impossible to remove correctly at 30ËšC and, to be honest, you’d be struggling to wash them correctly at 40ËšC as well I’d expect.
Have a look at the care labels as I know that stuff can use some really weird fabric mixes and can have special wash conditions as it is quite specialised to make sure what can be done with them. But, if you want the best results and you want them to last (which I assume you will with the values of them) then I’d start there and follow those to get the best out your kit.
But any gym wear or sports clothing is usually regarded as being “very heavily soiled” due to the sweat and skin flake residue, never mind the mud. 😉
An explanation of detergents here that should help you in choosing the correct detergents.

Cheers for that, just checked to confirm and most of the clothing is 30deg with a couple of bits at 40, would any kind of prewash help at all?

😕
I hate these new mix fabrics, they’re a pain. 😉
Basically no, it probably won’t help pre-washing them much if any. Pre-soaking them in a mild detergent however might help if they’re really grubby. Beyond that just check the dose is right and follow the care labels for them. A lot of these new mixes if you deviate, it’s disaster.
There’s no way to get the machine to default to 30ËšC rather than 40ËšC I’m afraid as that’s the most common wash used in the UK by a country mile.
