ParticipantHi there
I’m new to this forum, I’ve browsed for a while but until now have not needed any help…. that has now changed :rolls:My APM8522 (dont laugh) suddenly started tripping the main fuse in the house, on closer inspection I found that the drive belt had snapped, snagging some wiring and generally tieing itself up.
I’ve ordered the belt (from UKWhitegoods of course) but need a little help with the damaged wiring.
I have 3 broken wires, 1x white, 1x grey and 1x yellow (earth) but there seem to be a number of options as to where they could go 🙁
Does anyone have a schematic of this machine who could help? or is it so obvious that I’m stupid 😉
Photo 1 is a general view of the back of the machine

Photo 2 has 3 vacant terminals but I’ve only got 3 cables (including the earth), judging by the cable lengths I am guessing that only one of these cables (the white one) should be attached here… but which terminal?

Photo 3 looks pretty obvious to me, the earth has to go to #1 and the grey to #2
[/img]I will (obviously) tidy up, and tie back the cables once they are refitted.. (dont want the new belt attacking them)
I’ve been as detailed as I can, so I just hope that one of you kind viewers can provide some answers.
Many thanks

its against forum rules to tell you where wires go it would be best to get somene from repairs@.

I’m actually asking if someone has a schematic, or knows where I can obtain one.
I dont expect anyone to commit to saying “this one goes there”So I repeat the question…
Does anyone have a schematic diagram of the wiring for this machine?Any help will be appreciated, my wife is running out of clean knickers 😆

There is no writing on the wires, that would be too easy 😉
I am more than capable of performing this repair, having been a computer hardware engineer for more years than I care to remember, but like anything else, information is crucial.
It would be a shame if having diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts etc I then have to call in an engineer to push three spade terminals on.

Forum Rules – read and understand.
Now – get out your test meter and follow the instructions:
Two terminals will give you a resistance reading in kOhms, two will give a reading of virtually zero ohms. The two skinny wires go to the high resistance circuit (a thermistor), the two thick wires go to the other two (an inline cut-out).

they are not that bad and surely must be worth the price of a belt, these belts are elasticated and are common to disintegrate.
i would have no worry whatsoever about changing a belt on a servis i have done dozens and nevr heard another thing about them.June 3, 2009 at 11:42 pm #288389Penguin45

It’s an elasticated belt – they un-ravel occasionally. It happens.
