hi a freind if the wifes has a hoover hnf 7148 it is just under a year old.
she is a bit neurotic but her machine has been ripping clothes they appear to be getting caught between the front of the drum and the door seal. i went to look at it as a favour although it is still under guarantee and there appeared to be wear on the inner lip of the seal and a bit of a gap. i was going to put a new seal on it for her but she wanted assurances that it wouldnt rip any more clothes. i had a look for bra wires etc. and decided it was more bother than it was worth if it ripped anymore clothes so i told her to phone hoover.

the engineer called out today and said it needed a tub and drum assembly.
i didnt know you could get such a thing i thought it came in parts.
he told her the part would cost£400 so she was lucky it was still under guarantee then spent half an hour trying to coerce her to take out a 4 year warranty.
it think there is a con going on somewhere.
    any comments welcomed.

most new hoover machines have a welded tub assembly now

it probably just needs a door seal, and hoover are just trying to exrend the warranty for more cash

    Re: hoover hnf7148

i thought it only needed a door seal as well they must be desperate to go to the length of changing a tub and drum assy just to sell a warranty, i would go out my way not to have to change it.
