ParticipantHello, please can anyone help….
Trying to decide between Bosch WAE24364GB (£369 with 2yr warranty) and Siemens WM14E162GB (£449 with 5yr warranty). Few questions…
1) Are these models with sealed drums or not.
2) Both state that they can do 60degree washes at 135mins. Was wondering if all the other cycles would be the same in duration between models.
3) Further, does the difference in max spin rpm (1200 and 1400) makes much of a difference in real world.
I ask these questions as my old zanussi machine lasted 17 odd years and am out of touch with the new tech that has bound to have been introduced.
Would the extra £80 be money well spent or would I be buying the same underlying machine dressed differently with trimmings? I would greatly appreciate any advice given.

Just read “the great spin debate” therefore the 1400 spin speed in the Siemens is not as attractive anymore.
However, this has throw up a further question. Does any of these machines have the Out of Balance feature which is recommended to be avoided??

They pretty much all do. I’ve not come across a machine in a decade or more that doesn’t have this protection built into the electronics. You can’t remove it, you can’t fool it (other than the wrong way) and it can be a royal pain for everyone.
But, it is required once you go beyond about 800rpm.

Hello,
Thanks Kwatt. Would someone please respond to my first question, ie. is the Bosch washing machine manufactured with a sealed tub or point me to any links where I can obtain such information?
I have managed to find a quote for £349 but holding back for the above info.
As mentioned earlier my machine has finally given up and my ears are starting to ache hearing the other halfs nagging! So a speedy response would be MUCH aprreciated.

Why not ask those that gave the quote ? After all if they want to sell you the product they will get the info 8)
