ParticipantOur aging Bosch SMS6032 has started to drink Rinse Aid.
About 5 washes ago, the Rinse Aid lamp came on after the wash had finished, so I refilled the reservoir, so that the silver cover was no longer showing. Normal stuff, it runs out of Rinse Aid every so often.
But after the next wash cycle, the Rinse Aid lamp was on again, so I thought that maybe I hadn’t refilled it after all – getting old, so poured a load more Rinse Aid into the reservoir.
After the next wash – Rinse Aid lamp was on again, and the silver cover was showing across the small window of the reservoir. This time it got half a fill. Rinse Aid is more expensive per litre than a very decent bottle of wine.
After the wash the lamp was lit again and the silver cover was showing. Since then I haven’t refilled it.
Anyone got any thoughts on why the Rinse Aid appears to be used up in one wash cycle, and a) if it’s something that I can investigate and fix myself, or b) is this the end of a beautiful friendship with the machine?
Thanks in advance – BB

This machines’ dispenser is activated by mechanical plungers running down from the timer. I can only suggest that you remove the outer door panel (The six screws on the inner door liner will release the outer door) and observe what is going on. From your description, the dispenser is either ctacked or allowing water to wash in during the wash.
Observation is fine, pull the plug before touching anything….

Hi Penguin45
Just wanted to let you know that I watched a wash cycle (really thrilling) with the door panel removed, and saw water gushing into the reservoir partway through, the wash and not as far as the rinse cycle.
When the wash had finished, I powered off, removed the plug and tried to figure out how to remove te reservoir without breaking anything – but couldn’t; so for whatever reason – I decided to turn the big white arrow head plastic screw that is used when you first set up the dishwasher to set how much rinse aid should be dispensed. I turned it all the way clock and then anti-clockwise a couple of times, refilled the dispenser and since then the machine has been behaving itself. so maybe there was a blockage somewhere.
Anyway, thanks very much for your guidance.
