My Whirlpool 4501/5 is flashing the start led 4 times, the drain failure error code.
I have checked the pressure switch in the sump and it tests fine with my meter, Ive even had the side off the switch to clean the contacts inside.
Since the switch is N.O. when the machine is empty the switch is open so I have even tried unplugging the switch but I still get the 4 flash error code.
The machine is just stuck pumping out water then stopping with a 4 flash error. I cant get the machine to reset or do anything else but pump out water.
Ive also checked the pressure switch wiring to the pcb and it all seams ok.
So im thinking could it be a pcb fault or am I missing something
The machine is only 2.5 years old and I was hoping for it to stay trouble free for quite a lot longer than this, my last dishwasher did 16 years.

If you are certain that the switch on the water level indicator is NO when the machine is empty, there is isn’t much else except the pcb which can be at fault. Might be an idea to follow the wiring back from the switch and check at the pcb end of the loom.

The switch does have both N.O. and N.C. contacts but only the N.O. are connected. Just to be sure Ive tried linking the wires to the switch so the dishwasher sees a closed switch but I still got the same 4 flashes error
