I have been reading these forums and don’t know where to go for help with my Siemens FF. It is an American sidebyside style.

Yesterday it defrosted the freezer with water all over the floor. The digital display on the front says it is working at the correct temperature but neither the fridge nor the freezer are cool.

I rang Siemens and they told me an engineer could call next week but it is £169 starting price and they will not contribute. It is only 2 years and 10 months old. It cost £1500, so am feeling a bit gutted.

What if anything can I do to fix?

    Thanks in advance.

In all honesty, this is when an extended warranty proves its worth I’m afraid. 😕

I am surprised that Siemens won’t help at all though.

It sounds like an electronic failure which, I would wager, will cost a small fortune to put right but, weighed against the cost of replacing the machine, it’s likely worth having it repaired.

If I were to take a guess, I’d reckon it was the main control board that’s reading the sensors incorrectly but I’m not familiar enough with those machines to comment much beyond a guess at it.

Thanks for your reply. Actually Siemens responded to my million emails! The engineer came last week and diagnosed a failed compressor. Today he is due back to fit.

Siemens have said they will now pay for the parts (£300) and I will pay the labour (£170). This includes the initial call out charge.

It did take some negotiating but the PA to the MD was the one who sorted me out.
