I went to a Zanussi ZWF1632W washer (PNC 914 521 110/00) that will do nothing – the mains light is on, but the fascia control panel has no lights on or response to button pushes.

I did the obvious – checked mains switch, interlock, and cleaned the link lead (not a ribbon on this one) between the main PCB and the front pamel PCB (that looked fine). I then cleaned all the contacts on the main PCB (top right). When I replaced it, it started firing off the interlock-release solenoid at random intervals! But nothing else, still dead.

We have gone for sending the main PCB (module) off to QER for repair, but I would appreciate any advice on whether I am in for a nasty surprise when the module gets back! I have never heard of the front panel just dying, but am I wrong…………?

(I am also renewing the interlock unit, as I know these can blow the module sometimes, at least on Hotpoints)

    All input welcome
    Cheers,

i had one of these not long back, discussed it here on the forums too, u say randomly the lock solenoid is working, i had this same fault, tightened up all the connections on each connector to the board, job done and no recall, can only assume then that it was a bad connection on the board.
    hth.
