ParticipantHi,
Some days ago, my washing machine started filling water very slowly – very small amount of water, although the tap was fully open. As a consequence, each washing cycle would take hours.
I pulled out the washing machine and find out that the water rubber pipe was bent.
I fixed it and turned the washing machine on: the red light would turn on, a little ‘click’ but then nothing happens – it doesn’t start filling with water.
I tested the electro-valves and I have seen that:
– Unplugging the supply wires from the 3 electro-valves, I measure around 50V ac in each supply wires pair (electro-valves are 220V ac devices). It seems ok.
– When I plug the supply wires on the electro-valves and turn on the washing machine, I measure 0V across electro-valves terminals – the all 3 valves. And no water in at all.
– With supply wires removed I measure the valves resistance with a multimeter and they all had a resistive path (I don’t remember how much, but can check if relevant). So my question is: are the electro-valves defective? Should I order spare parts and replace? Or could it be the electronic module (or other)? About 1 year ago, I had to replace the module by a new one due to some other problems. I acquired it from Ariston and it has always been ok since then. So, this is a relatively new module.
Appreciate your feedback.
Thanks

if you have little or no voltage going to the valves then there is a supply problem, possibly from the pcb. as long as your sure it should be filling at this point. i would certainly check that all connections to pcb are clean and tight, pull off each edge connector and pinch them hard with your thumbs. also check for worn or broken wires.
fingers crossed!June 17, 2009 at 12:35 pm #289242jpscm

Hi bzz67,
I guess it is not a supply issue because when I unplug the supply pins from the valves, I measure 50Vac.
But measuring the voltage across wires connected to the valves is 0Vac.
So, when I plug the wires on the valves the voltage goes from 50Vac to 0Vac. Is this normal? I would think not and therefore suspected on defective valves. What do you think?Joao

50vac is not enough, it should be 240vac, when you connect the wires you are putting a load on the line causing the voltage drop, especially if there is a loose connection or break in wire.

Participantif the door locks and nothing else happens, its always a good idea to inspect the brushes

if the machine is completely nogo then it could certainly be other things, even burnt out field coil on pump can cause nogo.
