ParticipantHi folks,
I have a Creda T622CW which will run on gentle heat no problem at all. However, when I use High heat setting it will switch off after two minutes or so.
I have replaced both the relay and thermostats with no joy.
I’m thinking now that it now must be the timer but I replaced that only last year (genuine part from this site).
Any thoughts comments before I go and spend another £40?
(Spent about £180 on spares for this bloomin machine- has it got reliability issues? And no, we don’t interupt the cycle to see how things are going!)June 18, 2009 at 9:18 pm #289589aqualectric

Have you checked the ‘stat in the door? Open the door and look up under the gasket around the door aperture. You will see 2 screws and the head of the door filter stat. This is a 58 degree stat and they do fail. The wiring can also burn and fail. Undo the 2 screws and pull the stat down gently. It may be necessary to remove the lid and relieve the tension on the wires if the stat cannot be pulled out easily.
Power off before any investigation. :plug:

Participantthat would only stop it heating
if youve changed the relay, then after checking the door switch wiring, it has to be a timer fault

Thanks guys- tested the door stat and wiring and it seemed it certainly seemed ok. Guess I’d better order timer number 3!

Guess what….. replaced the timer and its still cutting out after a minute or so! It seems to be heating up ok runs for a few minutes (on either gentle or high heat) and the stats, relay and timer have all been now been replaced. Any further suggestions very welcome!
PS anyone want to but a spare timer, relay, thermostats!June 29, 2009 at 11:24 pm #289593helo_75
Participantid be looking in the door switch area
is the hinge loose?
is the pin worn?

I’ve stripped down the door stuff now but still no joy. I get the feeling that the dryer is running hotter than it should do and that a thermostat is cutting it out.
Once the dryer has cooled own (about a minute) it will start again before again cutting out.(Thanks for all the suggestions so far)

have you tried a different socket?
also elements can go to earth at a certain temperature, if its only happening on high heat this would give the element the chance to get to the temperature that it fails at IF it is that at fault.the different socket comments comes from a time it happened to me were i found the live side of the socket had burnt through and was killing the machine on a high load.
caused by a cheap socket or a loose connection maybe.
worth a look for the sake of a screw or two at most.June 30, 2009 at 7:51 pm #289596helo_75
Participantthats actually a good point
look around the plug top, for burn marks
personally, id cut off the plug, put a fresh one on, and try it in a different socket

It works!
Just to let you know that the fault was actually a dodgy plug point. £80 of spares purchased and it wasn’t even the machine that was faulty!
Oh well- a lesson learned. Thanks for all your help and a great forum
