I have recently was given an Indesit WIA 121, about 18 months old. When connected to power the machine continuously runs the drain pump, regardless of selector switch postions. Having looked at other topics here I’m led to believe it’s a PCB fault.

I removed the PCB and noticed some burn marks around some of the solder joints next to one of the output connectors, however testing with a multimeter here revealed no shorts and connections still being maintained.

I’m aware that this machine is absolute rubbish, bargain basement stuff. I just wanted to get an opinion as to whether it was repairable as a spare to give to a family member in desperate need! If it just lasted a year more that would be all right.

So, what I’m asking is, as I’m fairly compentent with electronics, what actually fails on the PCB? Also, I couldn’t see the price of a new one on this site, plus another thread mentioned having to fit a new EPROM and have it programmed – is there no way this could be swapped from the old board?

    Many thanks for any advice.

Follow the wiring from the drain pump to the array of mini triacs on the pcb. One of them switches the pump and will have failed in the “on” mode.

They’re available from Radio Spares, Maplins and the like.
