ParticipantWe have a new Baumatic BT3062SS Electric cooker that we’re concerned about – especially as we have tow very young children.
When using the main oven, especially when roasting meats, a large amount of steam comes out of the top of the door, over towards the right hand side. There does not seem to be a vent there, and it seems that once the oven has reached a certain pressure, it pushes steam out past the seal. The result is that is looks like a boiling kettle and a large amount of condensation collects on the smaller oven above and water drips down onto the floor.
I’ve already had a Baumatic engineer around and although he suggested on his visit that not all their ovens did this, he had seen a couple that did and could not explain why. However, his subsequent report back was that the cooker was/is within speicification.
I’ver had a number of cookers over the years and have never had one that performs like this. Can anyone advise if this sort of cooker behaviour is acceptable/normal?
Many thanksJune 23, 2009 at 3:10 am #289914spimps

The oven most certainly has a fault, design should incorperate a vent/cooling fan which will disapate the steam,as for dripping condensation leaking from door seal thats ridiculous to say it’s within spec.
Don’t accept, get back onto them at a higher level until you get satisfaction or an exchange.
Probably best to put something in writing.

Think your missing point, engineer is saying there is nothing on his van he can fit that will make a difference, he isnt responsible for design or selling the customer the appliance….whilest its not desirable to have condensation forming on the cooler oven doors it is within spec…..and totally fit for purpose…that oven was designed with a selling price in mind…cavities are far better sealed and insulated that they ever were because of energy ratings….in t end you get what you pay for!!!
