ParticipantI remember a while back a thread posted on here by one of the mods, i believe, about a pattern washer element that due to the small ridge on rubber seal being absent (unlike origional) popped out from the tub causing a flood. I cant find the thread now but i remember Masterpart being made aware of the problem.
Yesterday i fitted a pattern element Masterpart BS34107 to a Bosch WFF2001. Being aware of the problem i was very carefull to ensure it fitted tight and secure into slot and it did no problem. Next job, pattern element BS34113 to Bosch WFL2067GB/16. Now i dont know if it was due to it being a plastic tub but it just would not stay in. As i tightened the nut the rubber seal just kept squeezing out the slot. On my last attempt after using all my strentgh to hold it in while i tightened the nut it seemed to have worked. Gave it a little pull and wiggle to make sure and out it popped. After examaning the origional it is definately the lack of ridge on the rubber making it unable to seal.
Had to explain to the customer that would have to get one from Bosch at around £60.Any thoughts on this?
Thanks

Thanks for that Mike.
After reading through the origional thread i realise it was Bosch pattern heaters from connect in question. Mine was from Masterpart, which goes to prove its pattern heaters in general which is the problem.
In the motor trade pattern parts are widely used and seem to be constructed in most cases to an exact standard to the origional. Just without the large mark up.
In our trade, at least it seems, recently the pattern stuff that is being churned out is just made to look like the origional rather than to last or even function as the origional.
In the last few months ive bought pattern themostats that failed in weeks or didnt even work straight from the box.
Bullet piercing valves (copy of supco ones) which were unusable as the quality of construction was so poor.
Door hindges for intergrated servis fridges that when you fit them they have as much play on them as the old ones you took off.
I know some of the origional stuff isnt always great and the mark up can be high, but generally you get what you pay for.
As that is what i preach i suppose i better start practacing it. SubsJuly 1, 2009 at 9:00 pm #290000deltra
